Norah Jones: ‘Little Broken Hearts’
I understand this album isn’t exactly new, but because I am a new writer for this blog I thought I would start off writing about something I really love. So yeah, I love this album. I have always loved Norah Jones, and not just because she happens to be lovely, but because she makes music I can do anything to. Take a bath. Take a nap. Make a grilled cheese. Whatever I may be doing, there is no reason why I can’t throw on some Norah Jones. I mean seriously, “Come Away With Me?”; is that not the most enjoyable song of all time? Well, with her new album (and by new I mean it came out in May) Jones redesigns her sound, with a familiar ease and addicting softness. Her songs range from all speeds and moods, but her overall melancholy approach comes through easily. It seems to me that Norah Jones can take any genre of music, and apply a suave and smooth approach to it. And despite how sad her music is, it’s difficult to come away from it without being emotionally altered to some degree. That being said her new album has songs that explore all the ranges of her emotions and there is no reason why you shouldn’t listen to it.
